It’s the end of the month, and as a part of a new blogging and photography goal I’ve set for myself with BloggingAbroad, I’ve been taking photos based on prompts (and just from life in general), and I wanted to share a few with you!
Don’t forget that you can follow along with my photos and my blog posts on Instagram @MondayBazaar and on Facebook!
#1: Donuts In Osh
God bless the lovely Uzbek man in Osh who went to Virginia Beach for a few months and fell in love with good old fashioned American donuts, then opened a donut shop in Osh with donuts that are seriously better than Dunkin’ Donuts for 25 som apiece. One less reason to go to Bishkek!
#2 Hashtag Adventure
For the prompt #OutAndAbout #Adventure, I took a picture of my plane in front of the mountains on one of the clearest days that we’ve had here in Osh in MONTHS. Planes to me for my whole life have represented adventure and exploration, and so this felt very appropriate for this prompt.
#3 Hashtag Weather
That same flight, thanks to the insanely clear skies, I also snapped this shot of the mountains that we were flying over. Even though it’s 80 degrees in the days now, it’s still early spring, so there’s still snow everywhere at high altitude.
#4 Hashtag Road
Another shot from the skies over Osh, this photo was for the prompt #Road, and shows some of the traditional houses of Kyrgyzstan, which are often organized around a courtyard or garden area.
#5 Pub Ceiling
This was a selfie I took at München Pub in Bishkek, which was “TGI Friday” until a lawsuit of some kind forced them to change their name. Their ceiling has an epic amount of graffiti and art all over the place, so I had to get a photo.
#6 One Boston Day
I repost this photo every year on 15 April to mark One Boston Day.
#7 I Heart Osh, Hashtag Spirit
Osh just got this nifty sign in a park by our beloved Suleiman Too that expresses our deepest inner feelings about our city. Put simply, it’s the best city in Kyrgyzstan.
#8 Nookat Road, Hashtag SomethingILove
Last weekend, I went on what I had intended to be a 26.2 mile run from Nookat, a nearby rayon center, to Osh. As I rode in the marshrutka out to Nookat, we went over the crest of a pass. What I thought was a mostly flat and downhill run suddenly became what you see here: a hill that rose 1,000 feet from mile 6-9 of my run. Another 300 foot hill came after this. I stopped my run utterly exhausted at mile 21, after having gained 1,300 feet and descended over 2,000. But this photo and views like this throughout the run made this completely worth it.
