It’s the end of the month, and as a part of a new blogging and photography goal I’ve set for myself with BloggingAbroad, I’ve been taking photos based on prompts (and just from life in general), and I wanted to share a few with you! Take a look, read about it, and click to enlarge if you want to see more closely.
#1 Sary Chelek Flower
This single floating flower was our photographic muse during our trip to Sary-Chelek, inspiring a bunch of different angles, zooms, filters, and Prisma treatments.
#2 Sary Chelek
The classic angle shot from Sary-Chelek.
#3 1980 Olympics Bear
Across Kyrgyzstan, we still see a lot of murals and public art from the Soviet era, and a common theme in some areas is art celebrating the 1980 Summer Olympics, which were held in Moscow.
#4 Aeroflot Ad
I saw this mural on Instagram almost a year ago, but never managed to locate it until a chance walk through the neighborhoods in early August. It advertises Aeroflot, which was then the Soviet national airline, including the phone numbers for the local Osh office. Aeroflot no longer flies to Osh.
#5 The Yak-40 From Above
During my friends’ visit, we took a ride on the Osh Ferris Wheel, this rickety old Soviet thing that happens to sit right next to my favorite landmark in Osh, from which I got this shot.
#6 Crowning
OK, so this isn’t me, and this isn’t even my photo, but I’m still way too excited about winning Blog It Home to care.
#7 Parental Selfie In The Park
My parents came to Osh! Here’s our requisite selfie in front of the Yak-40 and the ferris wheel.
#8 The Entire Family
I couldn’t have been happier to welcome my two families to one table not once but TWICE during my parents’ visit to Osh.
#9 Uzgen Bazaar
During my parents’ visit, I took them up to Uzgen, another large centre in Osh Oblast that also brims with history and culture. We had a great time exploring the bazaar, inside of which I snapped this shot.
#10 Osh Bazaar
This is a candid shot I got of people going in and out of the main entrance of Osh Bazaar in Bishkek.
#11 Lenin Remains
This is a quiet shot from the park behind the History Museum where the Bishkek Lenin statue was relocated. Across Kyrgyzstan, a lot of Lenin statues remain, including in Osh, where we have the largest in all of Central Asia.
